The Albany Athletics (26-9 overall/15-6 ATL) are in the midst of a furious finish to the regular season. The team has won its last five Twilight League games and 9 of its last 10 league affairs. Outstanding hitting and superb pitching have led the win streak including a perfect game performance and 10 strikeouts from Ryan Harper in a 9-0 victory over Troy. Just nine days later, Ryan McGrath hurled an 8 strikeout no-hitter in a 5-0 win over Waterford.
Dan Barbero and Cam Overbaugh have led the team offensively with Barbero hitting four home runs in a five-game stretch and Overbaugh collecting 12 hits and 11 runs over a 10-day period. Vince Citro has heated up his bat with at least two singles in three straight games. Along with McGrath and Harper, lefthander Mike Pastore has picked up a win and a save in the last 10 days.
The A’s have three regular season games remaining before they enter the Twilight League and AABC postseason, which they clinched a berth into for the 14th straight season.
